Site Presentation

The High Line is an urban linear park in Manhattan, New York, built on a 2.3 km-long abandoned elevated railway. Inspired by Paris’ Coulée verte, it transforms industrial infrastructure into green space, making it a nature-based solution. By rehabilitating this railway, New York preserved its industrial heritage while enhancing biodiversity, reducing urban heat, and improving air quality. The park also promotes social well-being, offering a peaceful refuge in the city. This project illustrates how nature can be integrated into urban planning to address environmental and social challenges sustainably.
